On the Homework page you give homework and post lesson summaries, per class. There are two kinds: Detailed homework (with due date, tick-off per student and optionally progress items) and a Summary (a short update to the class with text and photos, without due date or tick-off). It is the portal version of the homework screen in the mobile app. Teachers only see their own classes.
Where to find it
- Teacher: at the top of the sidebar, Homework.
- Administrator: Sidebar → Education → Homework.
Who can do this
- Teachers, for the classes they are linked to.
- Administrators with the permission Manage students (
manage_students). - The Student dossier module must be part of your organization's package. AI feedback only appears if the AI assistant is enabled for your organization.
- Submitted recordings (audio submission) can only be played by a teacher of the class. An administrator only sees the status per student and cannot play them.
Set up
- The administrator links the teacher to the class and assigns the students (Teacher and Class Management).
- Optional: homework templates in Education → Educational Materials, tab Homework Templates, and progress items in the Progress Categories and Memorization Items tabs.
- Optional: Audio submission. An administrator with the Manage settings permission turns it on for the organization: Sidebar → Settings → Settings, tab Academic Year Settings, card Audio submission for homework. See the article "Organization settings, plan and modules".
Step by step: give detailed homework
- Choose the Class and click New Homework. Choose Detailed homework.
- Choose the Homework Type: for the whole class, or individual (then select the students).
- Under Homework Dates, set the Assigned Date and Due Date. If the due date falls within a holiday, it is moved to the first lesson day after it. With Auto-complete after due date the homework is marked completed after the due date (not for assignments with progress items).
- Under Homework Details, enter the description, or pick a template under Templates → Use this template. Optionally add additional notes.
- Optionally add Attachments: images or PDF/Office files, max. 25 MB per file and 20 in total.
- Optionally add progress items if you want to track their progress.
- If you want the assignment to be submitted as a voice recording, tick Audio submission (max. 5 minutes per recording). You only see this box for detailed homework and only if your organization has turned on audio submission.
- Click Assign Homework. Students and parents get a notification in the app.
Step by step: post a lesson summary (also to several classes)
- Click New Homework and choose Summary.
- Under Select classes, choose one or more classes (or Select all).
- Optionally enter a title, the Lesson date, the description and photos or files.
- Click Post summary. Each class gets its own summary and its own notification to the parents; the card shows "In X classes".
- Editing: tick Apply to all classes to change all classes at once; otherwise only this class changes. Deleting: choose This class only or All classes.
Detailed homework cannot be given to several classes at once: due date, tick-off and progress differ per class. Create it per class.
Step by step: tick off per student
- Optionally filter with All, Not fully completed, Completed, Not completed, Overdue, Class, Individual or Summary, or search.
- Open an assignment and under Student Statuses set the status per student; optionally add a remark.
- To get a suggested remark, click AI feedback. Review the draft, adjust it and click Use feedback.
- Changes are stacked (you see how many students changed). Click Save Changes to save everything at once.
Step by step: listen to submitted recordings and give feedback
- Open an assignment with audio submission. Under Submitted recordings you see per student the name, the submission date and the duration, with the labels Late, Listened and Reviewed. Each recording shows Will be deleted on ….
- Click Play. With 0,5× you play at half speed, with 10 s you go back 10 seconds.
- Type your feedback and click Save feedback. The submission gets the label Reviewed.
- To remove the recording right away, click Delete recording now and confirm. Only the recording is removed; the submission and your feedback are kept.
- You cannot record spoken feedback in the portal. If there is Spoken feedback of your own on a submission, you can play or delete it here.
Delete after listening (above the list) applies to all your classes: a recording you have played is deleted as soon as you save feedback. A recording you have not played stays until the retention period has passed.
Every recording is deleted automatically after your organization's retention period (1 to 7 days, default 7), even if nobody listened to it. A day before, the teacher who created the assignment gets a notification if the recording has not been played yet. After deletion, the submission date, the duration and Recording deleted on … stay visible.
